Rides past photos - Friday 30th
May to Sunday 1st June - Stratford-upon-Avon Weekend
Here's the whole group, apart from Iain, who took the photograph. We are
on the Stratford Greenway, which is a dismantled railway from Stratford heading
south.

On our Friday afternoon circular ride east of our youth hostel in the village of
Alveston, we stopped for a cup of tea at Compton Verney, a National Trust
mansion that houses an art gallery. It isn't bike friendly (we were supposed to
leave our bikes back at the car park, though no signs said so), but we persuaded
the manager to let us put the bikes behind the house and have a quick tea before
they closed.

Saturday's ride was about 33 miles south through lush countryside to Ilmington
and Hidcote Manor Garden.

Very lush countryside....

Nice pub garden in Ilmington.

And welcome refreshment.

On Saturday evening, some of the group went to Stratford to see a Shakespeare
play.

Sunday's ride was about 32 miles to the north west of Stratford along canals and
through Studley.

This is National Cycle Network Route 5, but the barriers are not
bike-friendly...

Still wet.

The Stratford Canal goes across an aqueduct near Studely.

The aqueduct crosses the train line, the road and a river.

The canal towpath was horrible.

Luckily, the rain stopped, so our route wasn't under flood threat.

The police have a suitable station for the countryside.
