Friday 1st June 7.30pm To Loudwater & Commonwood

Meet at Croxley Green Station for a moderate ride with a few hills to Loudwater and Commonwood. Possible pub stop on return.

Saturday 2nd June 2.00pm Cycling for Women

Meet outside the Cha Cha Cha café in Cassiobury Park for advice and support from experienced lady cyclists. Come for a short safe ride, finishing back at the café for cakes & chat.

Thursday 7th June 8.00pm Spokes Social Evening

Meet in the Moon Under Water pub - High Street, Watford - for a drink, Curry Club or other meal, and chat. We are normally in the non-smoking area at the rear. Contact Diana.

Saturday 9th June  10.00am Bricket Wood & Bedmond

Meet at Watford High Street Station for a wander up the paths and down the lanes. Pub stop. 20 miles.

Thursday 14th June 10.00am Ebury Way & Heronsgate

Meet at Watford High Street Station to cycle along the Ebury Way and up Long Lane to Heronsgate returning through Rickmansworth. 20 miles.

National Bike Week

Saturday 16th June 2.00pm North of Watford Explorer

Meet at Bandstand near Watford Central Library. Ride out along the beautiful Colne Valley and countryside to the north of Watford, returning via Bricket Wood and Bedmond. Some off-road tracks if good weather. Not too hilly. Refreshment stop. About 20 miles, medium-paced.

Sunday 17th June   10.00am Croxley/Flaunden Bridle Paths

Meet at Watford Metropolitan Station for a wander through the woods and along tracks and roads in my favourite cycling area. Pub stop possible. 20 miles.

Tuesday 19th  June 7.00pm Bone Hill

Meet at Watford High Street Station for about 15 miles circular route on lanes to northwest of Watford.

Thursday 21st  June 7.20am! Greet the Longest Day

Meet at Watford Metropolitan Station at 07.20 for a prompt start. Short ride, as much as possible avoiding commuter traffic, so may well include a stretch of canal path.

Come along to our stall on the Green and support your group.

Company of Cyclists Road Show comes to Watford

Come to Charter Place to try out the Company of Cyclists' bikes and get information about cycling. Dr Bike, the Spokes trailer bike and various other stalls will be there.

The High Street will be closed between Market Street and King Street to all vehicles except bikes!

There will be 2 rides to the event

Sunday 24th June 10.00am Ride one. Garston to Company of Cyclists event

Meet at 10.00am at the Garston Medical Centre near Sainsbury's, Dome Roundabout, North Watford for a ride via Meriden, Bricket Wood and the Colne Valley cycle path to Watford High Street.

Sunday 24th June 11.00am Ride two. Carpenders Park to Company of Cyclists event

Meet at 11.00am at Carpenders Park Station for an easy ride along cycle paths & part of the Ebury Way to Watford High Street.

At 2.00pm there will be 2 circular rides starting at Charter Place:

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Sunday 24th June 2.00pm Circular ride one from Charter Place

Family Ride suitable for families with children up to 10.

The ride will be off road and very easy-paced.

All the rides will take about an hour. They will be easy-paced and suitable for inexperienced cyclists.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Sunday 24th June 2.00pm Circular ride two from Charter Place

Explorer Ride suitable for older children and adults. Ride along mainly off-road trails to discover the Ebury Way and beyond.

All the rides will take about an hour. They will be easy-paced and suitable for inexperienced cyclists.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Saturday 30th June 10.30am Aldenham Country Park

Meet at the bandstand next to Watford Central Library. An easy ride of about 10 miles, including a refreshment stop at the Farmers’ Market at Aldenham Country Park.

Thursday 5th July 7.00pm Apsley Ride & Social

Meet at Garston Medical Centre, just off Cow Lane (located in Sainsbury's car park), for a ride via Bedmond to Apsley Marina. About 8 miles. Enjoy a drink/meal at Woody’s Vegetarian Café. Option of meeting us at the café. Cycle over curvy bridge to Apsley Station (about 10.00pm) and get the train back to Watford Junction.

Probably meet at 10.00am at Watford Metropolitan Station to travel to London for the Tour de France prologue.

Meet at Watford High Street Station for a ride to Hatfield via Radlett, Shenley, South Mimms and Welham Green, returning Alban Way, A414 cycle path, Park Street and How Wood. A few hills, about 35 miles.

Saturday 21st July 10.00am Flaunden & Bovingdon

Meet at Watford Metropolitan Station for my usual meander round the lanes, making it up as I go along. Pub stop? About 20 miles.

Sunday 22nd July 10.30am Up the Colne to Moor Mill

Meet at Watford High Street Station. An easy ride of about 10 miles, mostly off road unless it is too muddy. Pub stop.

Meet at Watford Metropolitan Station. Ride to Chipperfield then back to Sarratt for a pub stop. Back by 10.00pm.

Saturday 28th July 11.00am Towards the Chilterns to Ley Hill

Meet at Watford Metropolitan Station. A dip into well-explored country - a ride of about 23 miles takes us out through Bovingdon Green and a drop into the Chess valley via Chenies. Probably pub stop at Whelpley Hill.

Sunday 29th July 2.00pm Water & Wildlife Festival

Meet at the Harvester, Baldwins Lane, Croxley Green for a no hills ride along the Ebury Way & Colne Valley to the Colne Valley Park Water and Wildlife Festival at Denham Country Park.  Spend 1-2 hours there before the ride back.

Saturday 4th August 10.00am Hemel Hempstead

Meet at the Harvester, Baldwins Lane, Croxley Green for a 23 mile ride via Belsize, Flaunden and Felden returning along the canal tow-path after a pub lunch. 25 miles.

Sunday 5th August 2.00pm Watford & Social

Meet at the Rickmansworth Road entrance to Cassiobury Park for a short ride around nature reserves by Watford Link Road with leisurely stop at the Wallace allotment for horticultural chit-chat. Then back to Bob & Alison's garden for eats and drinks. Provision of a bottle will ensure a warm welcome, even if you miss the bike ride.

Saturday 11th August 10.00am Return to Denham

Meet at Watford High Street Station for a ride via the Ebury Way and Aquadrome to Stockers Lock, canal towpath to Springwell Lane, cycle path to Maple Cross and Tilehouse Lane to Denham.
About 20 miles with a couple of hills.

Thursday 16th August 10.00am Coy Carp Cycle

Meet at Watford High Street Station for a 16 mile ride along the Ebury Way, through the Aquadrome and along the canal towpath. Contact Dennis.

Sunday 19th August 10.00am Chiswell Green & Gorhambury

Meet at Watford High Street Station for a ride through Bricket Wood and Verulamium to Gorhambury, returning via Bedmond. About 25 miles.

Saturday 25th August 10.45am Rail Ale Trail

Meet at Garston Medical Centre, just off Cow Lane (located in Sainsbury's car park), for a chance to visit some of the Camra approved pubs on the Abbey Line Rail Ale Trail, so called because they lie on the approximate route from Watford to St Albans. About 20 miles, some off-road, a few hills. Pub lunch (fresh local ingredients) and other pubs en route. Chance to collect stamps for a Free T-shirt!

Looking Ahead

Saturday 1st September 2.00pm Blackwells Café

Meet at the shops at Langley Way/Cassiobury Drive for a 16 mile medium paced ride to the new Blackwells Café opposite Chipperfield Common. A few short hills. Will include off-road tracks and canal towpath (alternative route if bad weather).
